Military Appreciation and Giving Back to Veterans on Veterans Day

The following are organizations that are making a special effort to recognize Veterans Day by donating a portion of their sales to veteran causes or featuring special programs that give back to veterans and their families. This list will be updated as information becomes available for 2023. 

Veterans Day 2022:

For each chile con queso and queso diablo appetizer sold from Nov. 7-11, 2022, at all locations, Abuelo's Mexican Restaurant will donate $1 to the Honor Flight Network, a national nonprofit that provides veterans with free trips to national memorials and monuments in Washington, D.C. dedicated to honoring their service and sacrifice. AweXs LLC, a wholesale supplier of yoga mats online, is donating 15% of sales to Veteran's Children Services through Veterans Day. The company, run by a disabled US veteran, provides mats for schools, community groups, yoga teachers, and sports facilities. The donations are meant to help children in military families navigate parental deployment, post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety, and frequent relocations. To pay tribute to all branches of the military, specially marked, purple colored Bob Evans Farms and Owens products will be sold at Walmart and Kroger stores nationwide through Veterans Day 2022 in partnership with the Gary Sinise Foundation. The initiative, part of Bob Evans Farms' "Our Farm Salutes" program, is designed to provide philanthropic support and to focus attention and gratitude on U.S. service members. Bob Evans Farms also donated $75,000 to the Gary Sinise Foundation to continue supporting the mental well-being of US veterans and active servicemen and women.

The Bojangles chicken restaurant chain announced in late October 2022 that it raised $548,000 for Folds of Honor, a not-for-profit organization that provides educational scholarships to families of fallen or disabled service members and first responders. The amount equals 109 educational scholarships of $5,000 each, a result of the chain’s Camo Big Bo Box campaign, which let customers buy the limited-edition boxes and/or round up their tickets.

Born Primitive, a veteran-owned fitness apparel brand, is donating up to $100,000 of its online profits from Veterans Day weekend, Nov. 11-13, 2022, to three veteran-related non-profit organizations: The Navy SEAL Foundation, The Best Defense Foundation, and Tunnel To Towers. From Nov. 7-9, 2022, California Pizza Kitchen will donate 20% of food and beverage sales to Disabled American Veterans when a guest mentions the DAV. Purchases include online orders at cpk.com when you enter the promo code DAV at checkout. Disabled American Veterans is a non-profit charity that provides support for veterans and their families. The donation offer is void if a flyer about the effort is distributed in or near a restaurant.

In partnership with the American Red Cross, to support active-duty service members, veterans, and military families, Caribou Coffee will donate 25 cents from every purchase made at a coffeehouse or through the app at participating locations on Nov. 11, 2022.

Enterprise Rent-A-Car and Progressive Insurance are teaming up again to donate refurbished vehicles plus six months of auto insurance coverage to over 100 veterans and military-related organizations nationwide. The Enterprise Rent-A-Car Foundation also gave $1 million in 2022 to the Fisher House Foundation to help provide free lodging for families of veterans receiving treatment at military medical centers. During the month of November, Freddy's Frozen Custard & Steakburgers will collect donations from customers for Folds of Honor, which provides scholarships to the spouses and children of America’s fallen or disabled military.

On Nov. 11, 2022, Harry’s, the men’s grooming brand, will donate $5, for a total of up to $50,000, to Stop Solidier Suicide for every sale of its signature Sage Truman razor handle in support of the mental health of veterans. Separately, the Harry's team also recently committed $200,000 to support Stop Soldier Suicide.

In honor of Veterans Day, The Home Depot Foundation will surprise 1,000 U.S. veterans across the country with rental and mortgage payment assistance for the month of December. Many of these veterans previously faced homelessness before securing permanent supportive housing in facilities operated by longstanding Foundation partners, including U.S.VETS, Volunteers of America and Quest Communities. From Nov. 1-11, 2022, Ice Shaker, a brand of insulated shaker bottles, will donate $1 from every purchase of a U.S Army 26oz Ice Shaker to five nonprofits that help veterans transition into civilian life.

Indian Motorcycle will donate up to $100,000 to benefit the Armed Services YMCA and its Operation Ride Home program, which helps active-duty U.S. military personnel travel home to visit family. The funds will come from matching profits from Indian Motorcycle sales, through Nov. 30, of its 2022 Honoring Heroes apparel collection. From Nov. 1-11, 2022, Lowe's will donate $1, up to $50,000, for each eligible item purchased on Lowes.com from the Blue Wreath Project collection to nonprofit partner Building Homes for Heroes, which gives mortgage-free homes to veterans and their families and provides support toward their recovery. From Nov. 1-13, 2022, customers of car wash brands under the Magnolia Wash Holdings portfolio at all locations in the Jacksonville, Tallahassee, Atlanta, Norfolk/Virginia Beach, and Charlotte areas can donate to Folds of Honor when paying for their services. From Nov. 12 through Dec. 31, 2022, Mission BBQ will donate $2 from every American Heroes Cup purchase to Wreaths Across America. The campaign will raise money to sponsor the placement of veterans’ wreaths on National Wreaths Across America Day in December 2023. The campaign is valid at any of Mission BBQ’s 121 locations. Additionally, a special event is planned for 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, 2022, at the restaurant chain’s Clarksville, Tennessee, location: the WAA Mobile Education Exhibit. This mobile museum is designed to educate visitors about the service and sacrifice of our nation’s heroes as well as serving as an official “welcome home” station for Vietnam veterans. Through Veterans Day 2022, O’Charley’s Restaurant + Bar guests can take $5 off their bill by donating $5 to The Folded Flag Foundation in support of Gold Star families The “Give $5 Get $5” campaign raises money for educational scholarships and support grants for the families of U.S. service members who made the ultimate sacrifice.

On Veterans Day, RibCrib is donating $2 to Folds of Honor from every meal purchased. The not-for-profit Folds of Honor provides educational scholarships to families of fallen or disabled service members and first responders.

100% of profits from the sale of each bottle of Sailor Jerry Ironsides BBQ Sauce will support veterans. Half will go to the veteran-owned business Grill Your Ass Off. The other half will go to The Independence Fund, a non-profit that will use the money to support Operation Resiliency, a program that reunites veterans who served together. There is no cap on profits and there are no firm dates of the promotion.

Through Nov. 15, 2022, customers of the Southeastern Grocers-owned stores Fresco y Más, Harveys Supermarket and Winn-Dixie can donate to the USO by contributing $1, $5 or simply rounding up their grocery bill at the register. Every dollar raised will directly support the USO. The organization supports active-duty military, National Guard and active reserve members deployed and at home, including troops stationed in Eastern Europe as a result of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, and those in Southwest Florida working to help residents recover and rebuild in the wake of Hurricane Ian.

Participating Sport Clips Haircuts locations will donate $2 from every hair care service provided on Veterans Day, November 11, to support the VFW's "Sport Clips Help A Hero Scholarship" program. The goal is to raise $1.7 million for the scholarships, which are awarded to qualified veterans across all branches by sending the funds directly to the college or technical school of their choice.

Through Nov. 11, 2022, the Vitamin Shoppe and its brand partners will donate $50,000 to Team Red White & Blue, lead sponsors of WOD for Warriors, a day of functional fitness on Veterans Day. Every purchase of 1st Phorm, BodyTech, Cellucor/C4, Prime Hydration, and Redcon1 brands at The Vitamin Shoppe and Super Supplements stores, as well as on vitaminshoppe.com, includes a $1 donation toward this cause.
